I’m Blue in the Face

Last night I got another (my third actually) wedding invitation for a wedding this summer, and it smacked me in the head like a shovel that I’ve been waiting on baited breath to hear back about jobs for far too long.  I’ve been putting things off in anticipation of moving and adjusting to a new environment so badly that things have fallen into neglect.  I have a project that I’ve completely forgotten where I left off on it.  I have 3 weddings that I haven’t RSVP’d on, nor taken measures toward actually being able to go to them.

For those that don’t know, I’ve been applying for jobs like mad for about 6 months now.  I’ve had some bites, and I’ve even gotten some interviews.  But, as I realized last night, it’s wrecking my ability to accomplish anything.  This self-realization (and a discussion with my girlfriend) has helped me conclude that I need to stop living in anticipation of “the next step” and try to make the most out of right now.

    Adrian,

I know exactly how you feel, it was so frustrating trying to get the “perfect job” or even “any job not where I was currently at”. I have to tell you though, if you are not happy where you are, then its completely worth it trying to find something else. I know for example that Adriana and I are totally aware that you are busy looking for a new job and if you can’t make it to the wedding, we will understand (although you will have to come visit US in Texas at some point as payment :P ).

I just hope that you don’t sacrifice the opportunity to find something you really enjoy as a result of trying to “make the most of right now” but you definitely need to take a break from job hunting every once in a while or it will drive you crazy. Take it from someone who was in the same boat.

Well, I have something I’m pretty sure about in Indiana. It’s just a matter of finding out for sure and it’s driving me crazy! I’m going to try like hell to be at your wedding (and living in IN will make that WAY easier).
